Your skip hire questions,
answered.

From choosing a size to arranging collection. Here’s what you need to know.

How do I hire a skip?

Call us with your postcode, the waste you need to clear and your preferred delivery date. We’ll help you choose a size, check where the skip will sit and confirm the price before you book.

What does the price include?

The usual hire covers delivery, up to seven days’ hire, collection and disposal of the agreed waste. Your skip size, location and waste affect the price. Confirm the full total, including VAT, any road permit and any agreed extra charges, when you call.

How long can I keep the skip?

Standard hire is up to seven days. If you need longer, tell us before booking so we can agree the hire period and any extra cost. Call when you’ve finished to arrange collection.

Will I need a road permit?

A skip entirely on private land does not normally need a road permit. A skip on a public road needs council permission before delivery. Tell us where you want it placed so the permit arrangements can be checked.

What can’t go in a general waste skip?

Keep asbestos, paint, oils, fuels, gas cylinders, batteries, tyres, electrical items and medical waste out. Plasterboard, mattresses and carpets need to be discussed before booking. See the waste guide for more detail.

Can I fill it above the sides?

No. Keep your waste level with the top of the skip, with nothing sticking out. Heavy materials such as soil and rubble also have weight limits, so tell us about them before booking.

How do I arrange collection or an exchange?

Call us when you’ve finished with the skip. We’ll agree collection around the drivers’ schedule. If you need another skip, tell us at the same time so we can arrange a paid exchange.

Can I get a skip today?

Call to check the next available delivery for your postcode and skip size. Same-day delivery may be possible, but it depends on availability, access and whether a permit is needed.

What if I don’t have room for a skip?

Our man and van rubbish collection or wait-and-load service may suit you better. Tell us what needs removing and how it can be reached, and we’ll talk you through the options.

Putting a skip on the road?

Stirling Council requires permission before a skip is placed on a public road. Its current application page asks for at least seven days’ notice, with longer notice for traffic-sensitive locations. Check the latest requirements and agree the application arrangements before booking.
