A skip for the room, garden or building job
Replacing a bathroom and clearing a garden produce very different loads. A 2 or 4 yard skip can suit a smaller job; a 6 or 8 yard skip gives more room for a renovation. Tell us about old tiles, bricks or soil before choosing by size alone.

| Size | Typical use | Approx. L × W × H |
|---|---|---|
| 2 yard | Small clear-outs & garden jobs | 1.5m × 1.2m × 0.9m |
| 4 yard | Room clear-outs & bathroom refits | 2.1m × 1.5m × 0.9m |
| 6 yard | Renovations & bigger DIY jobs | 3.0m × 1.5m × 1.2m |
| 8 yard | Building work & bulky clear-outs | 3.6m × 1.8m × 1.4m |
| 14 yard | Bulky, lighter clear-out waste | 4.27m × 2.0m × 1.83m |
| 20 yard | Larger premises & site clear-outs | 5.59m × 2.65m × 1.17m |
| 40 yard | Large volumes of light waste | 6.0m × 2.4m × 2.68m |
For a bulky clear-out with mostly lighter rubbish, the 14 yard skip or larger containers may be suitable. Those need the right access and an agreed load. Use the measurements above to plan the space, then confirm the skip available for your Bannockburn address.
Measurements vary between skips. The lorry needs extra room, and bag or volume estimates do not set a weight allowance.
More help choosing a size
Keep your Bannockburn entrance usable
Bannockburn includes a conservation area, but the practical question for delivery is the space at your own property. A skip on a suitable private drive must still leave you a safe way to the door. Tell us about shared entrances, gates and any work already occupying the drive.
- Where it will sitExplain whether the space is your drive, shared ground or part of the street.
- What the lorry needsInclude the entrance width and anything overhead, such as branches or cables.
- When it can leaveKeep the approach available for collection as well as delivery.
Road permission in Bannockburn
For placement on a public road or pavement, permission from the roads authority must be agreed before delivery.
Stirling Council skip guidanceAgree the whole job before the skip arrives
Your quote depends on the size, waste, postcode and hire period. Delivery, standard hire of up to seven days and collection of the agreed waste are covered by the normal hire arrangement. Confirm VAT, any permit and any extras during your call.
We deliver to the agreed position. You fill the skip, then call to arrange collection.
Household clutter, garden cuttings or renovation waste?
Tell us which part of the house or garden you are clearing so we can agree the contents. Timber, cardboard and ordinary household rubbish differ from the heavier waste left after removing a path or taking down brickwork.
- Old cupboards and agreed non-electrical household items
- Branches, hedge cuttings and plant waste
- Bricks or broken paving only within an agreed heavy load
Taking out a bathroom? Keep plasterboard separate and mention the old fittings. Electrical items and liquids cannot simply be added to the general load. A clear waste list is more useful than calling everything “building rubbish”.
Keep asbestos, paint, oils, fuels, batteries, gas cylinders and electrical items out of a general waste skip. Agree plasterboard, mattresses and carpets separately.

Can a small skip take old fence panels?
It depends on their size and how much else is going in. Describe the panels and any attached concrete posts. Long pieces must fit safely inside the skip, and concrete needs an agreed weight allowance.
Can the skip sit just outside my gate?
Only after the position has been checked. Outside the gate may be public pavement, verge or road rather than your land. Give us the exact spot so permission and safe access can be sorted out first.
What if my renovation needs more than one load?
Call about an exchange rather than filling above the rim. We can discuss another paid skip and the collection arrangements around the next stage of your work.
