Choose a skip before the old fittings come out

For a room refit, the waste includes more than the fittings you can see. Allow for old timber, packaging and the materials removed underneath. A 4 yard skip can suit a smaller strip-out; 6 or 8 yards may be useful when the work covers more of the property.

If the load is mainly bulky light rubbish, larger options are available to discuss. If it contains tiles, masonry or soil, agree the weight before choosing. The comparison below gives the same honest guide dimensions used on the individual size pages, with no promise that every shape of item will fit.

Measurements vary between skips. The lorry needs extra room, and bag or volume estimates do not set a weight allowance.

High Street frontage and streets behind it

Tillicoultry’s conservation area includes the historic core north of the A91 High Street. If your home fronts the street, tell us how waste will reach the skip and whether there is any private or rear access. We do not assume a back lane exists or is suitable for a lorry.

  • Name the delivery approachGive the actual street or entrance used, not just the nearest main road.
  • Allow space to place the skipParked cars and a tight turn can matter even when the container itself fits.
  • Keep the way out clearProtect access for the collection after contractors or materials arrive.

Road permission in Tillicoultry

A public-road or pavement position needs roads-authority approval through the appropriate Clackmannanshire arrangements.

Book the load and the working period together

Tell us when the strip-out begins and whether the rubbish will build up across several days. We can agree the skip and standard hire or discuss a longer period. Confirm the full total, including VAT and any permit or extra hire charges, before proceeding.

We deliver to the agreed position. You fill the skip, then call to arrange collection.

Agree the waste before your refit starts

Wooden units, short offcuts and cardboard are different from plasterboard, old electrical fittings and liquid products. A quick list of what the contractors expect to remove helps avoid those materials being treated as one unrestricted load.

  • Short dismantled timber and wooden fittings
  • Cardboard from replacement materials
  • Agreed ordinary household or building waste

Keep everything inside the sides and below the rim. A narrow carrying route is not a reason to load long pieces so they project out. If an item cannot fit safely, call about another arrangement instead of balancing it on top.

Keep asbestos, paint, oils, fuels, batteries, gas cylinders and electrical items out of a general waste skip. Agree plasterboard, mattresses and carpets separately.

Your Tillicoultry
skip hire questions

Practical answers for this booking.

Call now
Can the lorry use the rear lane?

Describe the lane, its width, ownership and any turns or obstructions. Rear access is not automatically suitable for a delivery lorry, so it needs to be checked before a position is agreed.

What if the only space is on High Street?

Give us the exact proposed position. The A91 frontage and any public pavement need location-specific permission and safe placement arrangements; an empty space is not enough on its own.

How do I choose between 6 and 8 yards?

Start with the items and materials being removed. The 8 yard option gives more volume, but heavy loads still have limits. We can talk through the contents and access before recommending either size.
